Many people go into pregnancy believing breastfeeding comes naturally to both the chestfeeding person and baby. In reality, there is a learning curve for everyone involved. And that’s ok! This is where advocacy, evidence-based advice, and hands-on support during feedings in the first few days can be significant to your breastfeeding journey. This education class covers:

  • The benefits of breastfeeding and how to begin preparing for breastfeeding

  • Education about how the breast supplies milk production and how to encourage supply

  • How to anticipate hunger cues from baby and learning your milk production in the early weeks, including expression, let down, etc.

  • Expectations for breastfeeding and how to navigate common challenges such as latch, tongue ties, supply issues, clogged ducts, etc.

This will be a 2-hour course as well as a 1-hour postpartum lactation visit during which hands-on techniques will be used to help with successful feeding in the first few days after birth.
